J Tone 01 Pre Amp John East – Bass

Is it possible to retain the original sound of a J style bass?, but with a modern Active EQ? in the same preamp, along with no changes to my bass?

In response, we have created the J-TONE pre amp, replicating the authentic original passive wiring of the J style bass with a high spec Active EQ. It's designed as a direct drop-in replacement, including a place for the battery. It's easy to fit at home using basic tools, no soldering, no physical changes to the instrument*.

The Passive wiring is available as either the classic Volume / Volume / Tone, or for those who prefer a master volume – Volume / Blend / Tone. Plug-in tone caps allow additional fine tuning of the passive tone control.

The Active EQ is simplicity itself, incorporating highly responsive bass and treble controls, taken from our new high end UNI-PRE system. Internal edge wheels allow individual custom voicing for both the bass and treble control spectrums. Instrument qualities can be enhanced in conjunction with tone-shaping to match playing styles.

The JC 4 AL ( AlNiCo V single coil) is our well revised version of the classic JB pickup® .
We examined the best vintage basses from 1960 to 1977 to create a harmonious blend between
the woody low mid growl and warm articulate midrange early sixties pickups are famous for
with the funky ‘twang’ of some better seventies examples. Then we added a slight embellishment
to the deep bass and bright harmonics range. The result is a well balanced single coil pickup that
delivers everything from the best old school R&B tones to funky spank on steroids.

The NOLL TCM 4 XM is a compact equalizer that provides easy and space-saving installation. The secure insulation of the sealed equalizer perfectly protects other electrical components. Bass, low-midrange, high-midrange and treble controls are center-detented and allow 15dB of boost and cut with a gentle slope of 6dB per octave which results in a natural and true sound.
The equalizer is 9-Volt battery powered, adding an additional 9-Volt battery (18V) will ensure more headroom and longer battery life.
The NOLL TCM 4 XM onboard preamp can be combined with both active and passive pickups.
All units are prewired with high flexible cables, delivery contents all pots, jack and battery clip; however, knobs are not included.
Potentiometers have 6 mm solid shafts, while the stacked pot has 4 mm (upper) and 6 mm (lower) solid shafts.
Our MixPot also allows you to combine high impedance Piezo with magnetic pickups. Further custom configurations are available.
